Shaune Mogaila granted R20 000 bail

Sekhukhune United soccer star, Shaune Mogaile out on bail

Sekhukhune United soccer star, Shaune Mogaila, today appeared at the Tembisa Magistrate's Court. He is facing charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving and fleeing the scene of the accident.



This is after he allegedly fled the scene after crashing his M2 BMW onto car of a woman, who is currently in ICU, her two children; a 13-year-old who is under medical care and a nine-year-old who passed away on the scene. Reports state that the player is said to have been in celebratory mode after his team won a Tuesday match.


DEEPLY HURT


Speaking to the media outside the court Patrick Kekana, the uncle of the deceased young 9-year-old said the family is hurt by what happened. "I am deeply hurt by the crash.'


DELAYS


There were delays in court proceedings were due to a water crisis at the Tembisa Magistrate's Court The footballer was granted R20 000 bail. His lawyer, Octavius Magunda, said the football player could only afford to pay bail of R5 000 because he only earned R40 000 monthly. The prosecutor Maxwell Randima said the state was not opposed to bail being granted as he faced Schedule 1 charges. His next court appearance will be on 4 February 2025 to allow the state to obtain a post-mortem report and medical reports of the child who passed away.
