MaMkhize and Sbu Mpisane officially divorced after more than 20 years of marriage

Sbu Mpisane and Shauwn Mkhize are divorced

Six years after they announced that they had split, businessman Sbu Mpisane and businesswoman and socialite Shauwn 'MaMkhize' Mkhize are officially divorced. ZiMoja has learnt that the former power couple's divorce was granted by the Durban High Court on Monday. The couple who filed for divorce in 2018 was married in a community of property.

FIGHTING FOR THE RICHES

The former flamboyant couple has been dragging each other to court for years with allegations that MaMkhize wanted to keep everything to herself even though they were married in a community of property. During their separation, the couple stayed in different wings of their mansion in the leafy suburb of La Lucia in Durban, KwaZulu Natal. According to a source who spoke to ZiMoja, the divorce was delayed by MaMkhize fighting to keep everything, from assets and money they apparently made together. But Mpisane challenged her and said that he was part of making their businesses a success and making hundreds of millions of Rands together.

SHE ACCUSED HIM OF LOVING HIMSELF MORE THAN THEIR MARRIAGE

During her reality show, Kwa Mam'Khize, explained one of the reasons she opted out of her marriage. "I think the small problem that led my marriage to divorce was that Sbu loved himself. I also loved Sbu. So, no one cared for me," she said. It is not clear yet how the former couple, who have been married since 1991 and share a son, is going to share the wealth they amassed together all these years. Asked for a comment, Mpisane told ZiMoja to contact the Durban High Court for court documents since "the papers are for public consumption." He also urged ZiMoja to speak to his ex-wife on the divorce matter. "Shauwn is the author of the divorce. So you're free to speak to her because I don't want her to sue me for speaking about things I don't know," he said. MaMkhize ignored our texts and calls when called for comment.
