This month marks the celebration of mental health and veteran actor Sello Maake-KaNcube through his foundation has started a program to help men deal with their mental health issues by taking the necessary steps needed to deal with their mental health.

SUICIDES IN SHOWBIZ

Over the years, there have been numerous deaths due to mental health issues. Many entertainers such as muso Riky Rick, actor Patrick Shai and many others took their own lives. Patrick, who was a prolific actor took his own life by committing suicide in 2022. Riky Rick was found dead in his studio last year, and in a suicide note , he said he couldn?t handle the pain he was going through. He left behind his wife and children. Another star who fell victim to mental health was HHP, who also committed suicide. His lifeless body was discovered by his helper. 

MEN CAN CHANGE THE WORLD

Veteran actor Sello Maake Ka Ncube said he believes that men can change the world and that they need to focus on their mental well-being. "I believe that men can change society but in order for that to happen, they also need to take care of themselves, so with my initiative, I?m trying to get men to find their purpose in life. We offer counselling and steps to ensure that men deal with their mental health. This is for everyone, including my industry peers," he said. 

In an effort to curtail the number of suicides a campaign was launched. Ungazibulali Awereness campaign started a program to empower creative industry actors to fight the social ills. "Stats of depression and suicide are high when it comes to celebrities so we doing a workshop in all provinces .Actors are the worse people who are depressed and suicidal, " Nkululeko Khanyi, the champion of the program said.
