TV presenter and influencer Lalla Hirayama has been very open about her gynaecological issues. She previously shared how she was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a complex hormonal condition that affects ovarian function and produces higher-than-normal amounts of male hormones, which prevent the ovaries from releasing eggs.
CHECKING
Lalla has recently revealed that during a check-up, she was diagnosed with CIN 3, also known as Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia - a condition where abnormal cells grow on the surface of the cervix. She had not gone for a check in a long time when she found out. "I know this could have just been a private thing. Maybe it's something to be embarrassed about. But I choose not to be. So I wanted to share… perhaps this may help someone," she said. " It had been a while, a couple of years to be honest, not good. As a gynaecologist, they asked if I'd be comfortable having it done there and then. Of course, I said yes- and thank goodness I did! As soon as the doctor received my results he texted me and shared something I wasn't expecting," she added.
DIAGNOSIS
Even though she had been very focused on her PCOS and hormonal health, she was not as focused on her cervical health. "I knew, I needed it to have a regular PAP smear but I'm not entirely sure why and how it worked," she said. "I was diagnosed with CIN and it was scary," she said. "But I'm on the other side and my biopsy results are good. A few large lesions but the margins where it was cut and burned were good so in six months I'll need to test to make double sure," she shared on a social media post. Even though she is a big believer in natural medicine, she is grateful for modern medicine too. "There is a place for it. I'm glad the doctor was so comforting, expressing how important surgery was but also allaying my fears," she wrote.
