While many are happy about the re-launch of the popular Eyadini Lounge in UMlazi in KwaZulu-Natal, the family of the late owner, Jabulani Zama, says they know nothing about it. Ever since the owner, who was popularly known as Mjakes, died over a year ago, the establishment was shut down and turned into a depot.
THE RE-LAUNCH
This week, a flyer announcing the re-opening of the establishment was shared on social media, but Mjakes family says they don't know anything about it. It's said that the re-launch is being done by Mjakes widow, with whom he had separated and was in the process of divorce before his passing. According to the flyer, the establishment is under new management, and the relaunch will take place from 30 November to 2nd December. Sources close to the family confirmed to ZiMoja that his family and wife are at loggerheads. A source said that Mjake's widow, Mandlamini Zama, is planning the re-launching of the business without consulting with the family, including his other children and his mother.
FAMILY LEFT BEHIND
According to a source, the family heard through the grapevine that the business was re-opening. Mjake's sister Mbali Zama said her sister-in-law did not even bother to tell them about the business being opened again. "As a family, we are not part of the re-launch.We don't know anything about it. All we know is that Mjake's estate has not been winded up yet, and we are questioning her decision," Mbali said. She said even sadder was that Mjake's mother was heartbroken, especially because she was on her makoti's corner when her brother was asking for a divorce. "Even though my brother died while they were in the process of getting a divorce, as a family, we never excluded her from the funeral or anything; we gave her her position. She has always kept the keys to the premises because we respected her, but now she is acting weird; hearing from strangers who have been sending us flyers about the reopening as a family is a humiliation," Mbali added. When contacted for a comment, Zama said: "I don't have time for pettiness," she said before hanging up the phone.
