DNA excludes rape accused as father of teenage victim's baby

Ditebogo Frans Gololo was granted R1 500 bail

Ditebogo Frans Gololo, the man accused of raping and impregnating a minor, has been granted bail after DNA evidence excluded him as the father of the victim's baby. The 28-year-old man appeared at the Seshego Magistrates Court facing a charge of statutory rape.

MATTER ONGOING

NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said the court heard that Gololo allegedly impregnated a 13-year-old girl in Seshego township outside Polokwane in Limpopo. "However, the state has obtained DNA results, and it excludes the accused as the father of the said child."

BLACK CHRISTMAS

Dzhangi said the accused was arrested after the victim gave birth to a baby boy on Christmas Day, 25 December 2024. "He was charged with statutory rape by the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit on Thursday, 26 December 2024.

The docket will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for directives," said Dzhangi. The matter was postponed to May 5 and Gololo was released on bail of R1,500.
