Manqoba Mngqithi rejoins Golden Arrows as head coach

Manqoba Mngqithi has rejoined Lamontville Golden Arrow

Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi, who was fired by the Brazilians last year, has rejoined his former team, the Lamontville Golden Arrows, as head coach. This is Mngqithi's third stint with Arrows as a coach.

AN EMOTIONAL REUNION

Mngqithi, who was shown the door by the high-flying Sundowns, returns to Abafana Bes'thende in time to face his former side in the Betway Premiership match at Mpumalanga Stadium on Wednesday. Sundowns are currently leading the Premier Soccer League standings, while Arrows are number 11 on the log. Arrows managed to sign Mngqithi after he was courted by Rwandan giants APR, who wanted to sign him up after he left Sundowns in a huff. It was an emotional reunion between Arrows and Mngqithi after he started his coaching career at the Durban club. This will be his third stint with Arrows after he won the MTN 8 with them in 2009 when they walloped Ajax Cape Town at Orlando Stadium. Arrows' management will be hoping that Mngqithi and his former players at the team, Musa Bilankulu and Kagiso Dikgacoi, will bring back the glory days to the East Coast side.

A WARM WELCOMEok

Mngqithi was introduced to Arrows players and the technical team this morning after club boss Mato Madlala secured his signature. On their Facebook page, Arrows shared a video of Mngqithi with the caption "Welcome Back." He replaces Mabhuti Khenyeza, who left the club to join Chippa United as assistant coach to Thabo September.
