Popular actor Kininonke Shandu has bagged an endorsement deal with the popular shoe brand Omega. The Umkhokha: The Curse lead actor is following in the footsteps of the likes of rapper Sjava, who signed a collaboration deal with the shoe brand in July.
CHOSEN AMONGST OTHER
ZiMoja has learnt that the actor was nominated amongst many other celebrities who were also gunning for the same spot to be the face of the brand. According to a source, Shandu was chosen on the fact that his brand is aligned with that of the shoe brand. The source said that Shandu, who was almost cancelled by social media users for his controversial views was chosen because he embraces his culture, which aligns with the shoe brand. "He embodies the brand," said the source. Omega Shoe brand manager Mlindelwa Ndlovu said she could not comment at the moment. "We will announce when the time is right." When ZiMoja called the actor, who plays Ndlovu on Umkhokha, he said he is not allowed to comment at the moment. "Eish, you guys and your sources. Unfortunately, I can't talk about anything at the moment, but keep on watching my page; something exciting is coming," he said without giving anything away.
CANCELLED
Shaandu was 'cancelled' last year and lost two sponsorships over a social media post where he said women who have children out of wedlock bring shame to their families and that no man in his right mind will marry them. He went on to say such women should leave their kids at home should they get married. He has since deleted the post and apologised.
