The community of Rustenburg was looking forward to the highly publicised Moses Kotane Festival which was due to take place on 3 and 4 December at Moruleng Stadium with artists such as Khuli Chana,Amaroto, Focalistic, Fifi Cooper, and many others on the bill. Coincidentally, this is the same day as Cassper Nyovests Fill Up Mmabatho Stadium in Mahikeng. A few days before the show, a court interdict was issued by Keabetswe Mokoena from Bo-Tsi Media, against Uyajola 99 host and business partner Molemo 'JubJub' Maarohanye for alleged "abuse, and harassment. ?
KEABETSWESAYS SHE IS BEING THREATENED?
In a statement, Keabetswe says that through her lawyers she has instructed Jub Jub to be immediately removed from participating at the Moses Kotane Arts Festival, following an altercation between the two directors of Raah Foundation. Keabetswe says the foundation that was expected to help develop artists in the North West has "turned into a one-man show' after Jub Jub allegedly expelled some upcoming artists who were meant to be beneficiaries of the project. "Maarohanye is sabotaging the project and has turned it into a circus. He has been taking unilateral decisions and hiring new crew members every week without my knowledge,' says Keabetswe. He is also being accused of abusing women. "And once again, a woman has fallen victim of abuse at the hands of Jub Jub during 16 Days of activism. He has been threatening and insulting me, calling me loose and a bitch. I am scared for my life because I do not know what he is planning to do to me when this is over.' Keabetswe says he deliberately side-lined her from her own projects and insulted her in a WhatsApp group. "He also decided on the final line-up without discussing it.'
HIS SIDE OF THE STORY
Jub Jub says he is unsure how a business disagreement has turned into a matter of Gender-Based Violence case. "I can't blame you for what you read, but here's the truth on a woman who's trying to turn everything into GBV. What does exploiting people have to do with GBV?' he asks. "When I started the project, my vision was to uplift the arts and mend broken dreams in the community of Moses Kotane, where a lot of young people have lost hope.' The Ngikhokhele singer says he thought collaborating with certain individuals would make his vision tangible. "But it certainly didn't. As a boomerang effect, I had initially wanted to exclude myself from the preparations leading up to the events due to issues of corruption, misuse of funds, and exploitation of artists that were brought to my attention.' In conclusion, Jub Jub says, "The individual (Keabetswe) whom he believed to be his business partner decided to use his name to extort money from key individuals and mislead people with fake accusations, bringing his name to disrepute. "I believe in doing business with honesty, and integrity and hence I removed myself from the preparations,' he says. "As for my fans and fellow associates. I hold you with high regard and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused as you all fall collateral to this internal fallout.'
