Celebrity chef, and television personality Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko has died. The renowned chef and cookbook author died on Tuesday night, his family said in a statement.
SHORT ILLNESS
In a statement, family spokesperson Buyi Mafoko said Lentswe died from a short illness. "It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko, fondly known to the media and his culinary family as Chef Lentswe. "Lentswe had the misfortune of suffering a short illness and succumbed last night, 28th of February 2023 at Sandton Medi-Clinic. "The Mafoko and Bhengu families welcome your prayers and request some time to privately mourn the passing of our beloved son,' the statement said.
RELATIONSHIP
Bengu-Mafoko was in an on and off relationship with singer Langa Mavuso. A source close to Mavuso said he was devastated by Bengu-Mafoko. "Langa is in so much shock. This was the last thing he expected. They were so much in love with one another,' said the source. Bengu-Mafoko is the third chef to die in the last two years. TV chef and cookbook author Lesego Semenya, popularly known as LesDaChef, succumbed to Covid-19 in 2021 while Chef Tebello Tibz Motsoane died almost three weeks ago.
