Vote rigging allegations have surfaced after the Independent Electoral Commission results dashboard crashed this morning just after 7am.
SYSTEM CRASHING
It is not clear what may have caused the system to be down for more than one and a half hour. The system blackout raised many concerns from politicians who feared that the crashing of the dashboard may cause harm to the current results. This forced the IEC to issue a statement apologising to the public about the technical error. "We apologise for the issue with our public facing dashboard system and are working on restoring service. The results system is still operational and local offices continue to capture results," the statement read. This was not enough as parties continued pushing for more answers citing IEC explanation was not good enough for the nation.
NO NEED TO PANIC
Electoral Manager Mawethu Mosery addressed the media about the system problem. "Any worry about vote changing must not exist. Our CEO announced yesterday that all the counting has been finalised and the results are with our offices around the country. The issue now is to verify the votes and load them through so that they can appear on the dashboard. There is absolutely no need to panic. Our technicians are working tirelessly to have it back online," he said. Mosery further said that the counting was now at 58% and that they are still receiving the results from all over the country.
