Popular American rapper Sean Kingston (34) real name Kisean Anderson and his mother Janice Turner (61) have been arrested and charged with fraud. This is after they allegedly conducted an organised scheme to defraud, grand theft, identity theft and related crimes for more than a million US dollars.
THE ARREST
According to reports, the Beautiful Girls singer was booked into the Broward County jail. He was performing on May 23 at Fort Irwin, an Army training base in California's Mojave Desert, where he was arrested. He then waived his right to fight extradition in a California court and he agreed to be turned over to authorities in Florida. His mother was arrested the same day after the SWAT team raided his mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
FRAUD
The two allegedly stole money, jewellery, furniture and a Cadillac Escalade vehicle. His legal team, Robert Rosenblatt, told the media they were confident of a successful resolution. Kingston was already serving a two-year probation sentence for trafficking stolen property. In 2006, his mom pleaded guilty to bank fraud after stealing over $160,000 (R2,9M) and serving nearly one and a half years in prison.
