The cast and crew of popular soapie, Skeem Saam, are devastated after a fire broke out on the set of the show leaving one staff member injured and hospitalised. The soapie stars actors such as Hungani Ndlovu, Clement Maosa, Mogau Motlhatswi and Eric Macheru.
TWO INJURED
It is still unclear what caused the first however, after it engulfed the Sasani Studios in Johannesburg on Monday afternoon, two cast members were injured while others escaped. The SABC confirmed to ZiMoaj that two cast members were injured and receiving medical care.
THE CAUSE
Head of communications at the SABC, Mmoni Ngubane said the rate at which the fire damaged equipment still needs to be assessed. "The SABC confirms that a fire occurred at Sasani Studios on the set of SABC 1's flagship drama, Skeem Saam, resulting in two crew members being injured and hospitalised,' they said. The fire is said to have caused damage worth thousands of rands on equipment. However, we still need to assess the magnitude of the damage.' The SABC wished the injured staff a speedy recovery.
