Tso Vilakazi lands coaching job at soccer academy

Tso Vilakazi has found a job as a coach for a soccer academy

Former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates star Benedict "Tso" Vilakazi has found a new job. The 42-year-old Soweto-born footballer, who retired in 2014, has joined Prestige Football Development Football Academy. The Gauteng Development League Academy announced Vilakazi's appointment on their online platforms yesterday.


ANNOUNCEMENT 


Announcing the appointment on social media, the academy wrote: "We are thrilled to announce that Tso Vilakazi has joined Prestige as the new head coach of our academy. With his extensive experience and passion for nurturing talent, we are confident he will lead our academy players and coaches to new heights." Having played at the highest level in Denmark for AB Aalborg between 2007 and 2008, Vilakazi brings a wealth of experience to the academy. The academy said in the statement, "Tso's vision aligns seamlessly with our dedication to excellence and the development of youth in sports. We look forward to an exciting journey ahead under his guidance and can't wait to see the positive impact he will have on our players. Welcome aboard, Tso!'

Vilakazi has a talented son, Thato Mohlamme, who plays for Betway Premiership team Richards Bay.

Vilakazi, who started to play for amateur team Diepkloof Hellenic before being snapped by Pirates, has gone on to play for teams like Mamelodi Sundowns. He also played for neighbouring team, Malanti Chiefs, in the Kingdom of eSwatini and Botswana Meat Commission, where he hung up his boots. After retiring from football, Vilakazi became a soccer analyst.
