Broadcaster Thulasizwe Simelane makes radio comeback

Thulasizwe Simelane will replace Stephen Grootes on SA FM breakfast

Experienced journalist Thulasizwe Simelane will be making his radio comeback on the SABC's SA FM from next month. Simelane will be joining the award-winning station as the new host and anchor of the station's flagship breakfast show, The Morning Brief. Simelane is making a comeback in the journalism world after working at Takatso Aviation as their spokesperson for more than a year.

HE STARTED AS A RADIO JOURNALIST

Simelane will be replacing Stephen Grootes, who left the show when he ditched SA FM for 702 a few months ago. According to the SABC, the show that Simelane will host from 6 to 9 am will be a unique blend of hard-hitting news and current affairs content, in-depth interviews, and lively discussions. Having started his radio journalism career at the SABC in 2007, the journalist established the public broadcaster's Harare bureau. His experience includes anchoring prime-time news eNCA and NewzRoom Afrika. He recently completed his LLB qualification with Wits University and is currently the head of business development and stakeholder management at Harith General Partners, a private equity firm.

RETURNING TO BROADCASTING WITH A FRESH PERSPECTIVE OF LIFE

In a statement announcing Simelane, the SABC said his addition to the station is set to bring a fresh dynamic appeal and energy to morning talk radio. Radio Fortune Combo Business Manager, Anthony Soglo, said: "We are excited to welcome Simelane to SAfm. He joins at a very exciting period in our country as we celebrate 30 years of democracy, where his style of delivering factual, compelling, and engaging content will be key to our audience as we continue to grow the SAfm family." Simelane said he returns to broadcasting with a fresh perspective on life, South Africa, Africa and the world. "I feel my recent experience in the corporate sector, coupled with the professional growth journey I'm on, has sharpened me to better understand complex issues in politics, international relations, business, and the law, but also to ask better questions of power brokers and wielders," he said.
