The fight between influencer and reality TV star Inno Morolong and her nemesis Babalwa Mneno is far from over. ZiMoja has seen court documents where Morolong's lawyers have demand that Mneno apologises within 24 hours for defaming their client or face legal steps.
SOCIAL MEDIA BEEF GOES TO COURT
This stems from Mneno's posts on her Instagram page recently, where she said influencers Eva Modiga and Morolong were like the blind leading the blind. "Hahahaha, they want to host girls for Chris Brown, hahaha. Honestly, jokes do write themselves in SA. To be jobless is a problem."
In the letter, the lawyers said: "Your Instagram page has a lot of following and readers across the Republic of up to almost 300,000. You know the wrongfulness of your words and the negative impact they bring to our client's reputation and esteem. You are still entangled in a legal battle with our client wherein you sought protection from the law against your allegations of bad publicity by our client."
REPUTATION DAMAGE
The letter explains: "Over and above, your actions tend to cast negative aspersions over and against our client's business plan and strategy on the upcoming music concert featuring the American artist Chris Brown on the 14" and 15" December 2024. Your actions are malicious, wrongful and unlawful. We are therefore instructed to demand that you print a retraction of the above publications and any others in the next 24 hours from your receipt of this demand. You must print a concise, unambiguous and full retraction readable and palatable to a reader or followers of the calibre of your so-called "fans." The letter addeed: "Should you fail to do the same, our client will approach the court on an urgent basis for immediate relief without any further notification to yourself."
CALLING HER NAMES
Early this year, Morolong and Mneno were at it again when Mneno served Morolong with court papers as well. Mneno accused Morolong of defaming her by calling her a pimp. The former model wants Morolong to publicly apologise for "defamatory" statements she made about her on all her social media platforms and three newspapers. In the papers served by Mneno's legal team, they claimed Morolong made several defamatory statements about her on her social media accounts, which caused her a great deal of distress and harm to her reputation. These statements allegedly included accusations of drug use and promiscuity, which Mneno denied. Mneno also claimed that Morolong was bullying her to the extent that she lost jobs in the modelling space. Speaking to ZiMoja, Morolong confirmed that she instructed her lawyers to call the model out. "My lawyers wrote to her a demand letter. According to the letter she is supposed to acknowledge receipt once she receives it or the letter will be served to her via a public platform," Morolong said. When called for a comment, Mneno said she would not be entertaining Morolong and her lawyers.
