He has been slowly making his return to the small screen after almost a decade of not acting. Former Generations actor and child star Siphiwe Mtshali has recently bagged a new role on comedy show One Weeks, acting alongside Zakhele Mabasa-Mokone, Sihle Ndaba and Mpho Malatsi.

NEW ROLE

Siphiwe plays the role of an aspiring musician. The new show One Weeks follows the life of Fana, a charismatic high school dropout from kasi who dates a successful lawyer, Lihle, and wins over her 10-year-old daughter, Angie. Siphiwe plays Fana's friend Smindlo, a loyal friend whose dream is to be a famous musician. "Smindlo is such a chancer, man. What I find hilarious about him is that he thinks he is smarter than everyone, which is really not the case. He's basically a free-loader. Without Fana's constant conundrums, Smindlo really doesn't have much going on for him,' Siphiwe said.

ACTING AGAIN

Being a father and playing alongside Mangaliso Mthembu, who plays the role of Angie, Siphiwe said it was a genius move. "I couldn't see any other kid playing that role but her. I'm a father of boy children, so working with a girl child was interesting,' he said. "She challenged me a lot. I really loved the banter between the two and how easily Mangaliso annoyed Smindlo with her intelligent clapbacks.'

MAKING MUSIC

He also got to revive his music career through the show, where he features in a song on the show. "The song was a collaborative effort between myself and the creator of the series, Chris Q Radebe," he said. "I had so much fun making this song. Chris had an idea for the track, which he initially wrote, but, when we got to the studio, my creative juices started flowing and I began contributing to the song as well," Siphiwe said.
