MEMORIAL SERVICE

Khumalo's memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, at the Market Theatre from 12 midday until 2pm.

Doc Shebeleza's memorial service, which is expected to take longer, will be held at the SABC Radio Park, M1 Studios from 3pm.

The Ebumnandini hit-maker worked with the SABC in his philanthropy work through his organisation, Amaha, (African Musicians Against HIV/AIDS).

BEHIND MANY STARS

Shebeleza, who was one of the Kwaito pioneers, inspired other artists like the late Brown Dash to be a success in the music industry.

He discovered Brown Dash, who was part of his dancers and backing singers. The all-male group was called AmaSkumfete.

He derived the name from his hit song Skumfete, which was also his late 90s debut album.

Meanwhile, Khumalo started her music career at the age of 13. When she was 15, the child star released a hit song Hey Laaitie.

At the peak of her career, she released a club and house hit single, I Just Wanna Live My Life under Kalawa Jazmee Records.

Both Doc Shebeleza and Winnie Khumalo will be buried next weekend.
