Bafana Bafana striker Percy Tau has finally signed with Qatar SC after leaving Egyptian giants, Al Ahly. He signed for Qatar SC in Doha on Saturday after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms with the team. At Al Ahly, his annual salary was approximately R23 million - translating to around R1.9 million per month.
MASSIVE SALARY
The Mpumalanga-born left-footed star?s new contract with Qatar SC will see him earn a monthly salary of R16.8 million a month.
Tau is expected to make his debut in the Qatar Stars League on 17 January when his team takes part in the Qatar-UAE Super Cup and Super Shield matchups. Qatar SC will play against Al Nasr at the Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai. At Qatar SC, he is set to reunite with two former Al Ahly teammates, Ahmed Abdelkader and Badr Banoun.
SUCCESSFUL CAREER
Tau, a regular at Bafana Bafana, had a successful career with Al Ahly after former coach Pitso Mosimane signed him from Mamelodi Sundowns.
At Al Ahly, Tau won two CAF Champions League titles and made 126 appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing 14 assists.
Other teams that were interested in signing Tau were teams like Egypt giants Zamalek SC and Pitso Mosimane's Esteghlal FC.
On Sunday, Tau's new team lost to log leaders Al-Duhail 4-1 where he watched the game from the stands.
