Former artist manager Nhlamulo "Nota' Baloyi (34) who was arrested on Friday after he handed himself over to the police station has been granted bail. The music executive appeared at the Randburg Magistrate's Court today on a charge of rape after spending the weekend behind bars.
A NIGHTMARE OVER
Covered in a face mask, Nota sat in the dock until his bail hearing, which only took place this afternoon. Kwesta's former manager was released on R5 000 bail and will be back in court on 9 November. After his release, Nota took to X to thank God for his freedom. "Thank you Lord… Thank you all for the prayers & support. I've been granted bail. I will prove my innocence and I will comply with all the conditions placed on me by the Randburg Magistrate's Court 2 today. My nightmare is over!" he wrote. One of the conditions is that he is not allowed to speak to the victim.
RAPE ALLEGATIONS
Nota's arrest comes after a former Rhythm City actress opened a case of rape against him at the Douglasdale Police station. The actress, who is also a singer, alleges that the music executive raped her at his Joburg North home last month. Nota denied raping her, saying they had consensual sex and things took a turn when the actress tried to blackmail him into promoting her music. Nota was married briefly to singer Berita before they separated in 2022.
