Mutodi Neshehe's widow shares how her daughter was ill-treated by Home Affairs official

Late Muvhango actor Mutodi Neshehe's widow, Leslee Neshehe, says her daughter was manhandled aggressively and intimidated by the woman who helped them at the Home Affairs in Randburg while applying for their passports.

RUDE ENCOUNTER

She took to Instagram to share her ordeal. According to Leslee, one of her two daughters was allegedly subjected to aggression and intimidation while they were there to apply for her children's South African passports, as they have dual citizenship. She said they felt completely unsafe during the visit. In an Instagram post, Leslee voiced her frustration, stating, "If my husband was alive, she was not going to be treated like that. The official was going to tell him how much she liked him. We felt completely unsafe at Home Affairs," Neshehe said.

THEY DIDN'T CARE WHO SHE WAS MARRIED TO

She said her first child who suffers from high blood pressure started sweating. "We had not eaten the whole day because we thought the process would be fast since we had made an appointment, and because my daughter was sweating profusely, the machine could not pick up her fingerprints. That's what infuriated the official," she said.

She alleged that the official pulled her daughter and asked her what her problem was, even after she explained that she was sweating. "She didn't care, instead, she asked if she wanted a special treatment, and as a mother, I started getting pissed off and told her to be easy on her," she added.

Neshehe said the incident put a spotlight on the importance of ensuring safe and respectful environments for all individuals, irrespective of their backgrounds or circumstances. She said even after she dropped her late husband's name, the home affairs official asked her who cares who she was married to. "She told me that she didn't care who my husband was but I know if my husband was still alive, she was going to be star struck and all smiles. He would have defended us," she said. Home Affairs spokesperson, Siya Qoza, said the official who assisted Neshehe will provide a written response. "I'm waiting for it to be sent to me. I indicated that it's urgent," he said. He had not given a formal comment by the time of publication.
