Missing girl's body found stuffed inside a camping chair bag

The body of Simphiwe Moyo was found dumped

The family of an eight-year-old who went missing on Monday is still reeling in shock after her body was found stuffed in a camping chair bag near a dumping site. The girl went missing after she was sent to buy a loaf of bread in Klipgat in the North West.

MISSING

The family of Simphiwe Moyo became worried when she did not return home with the bread, hours after she was sent to the shops. They alerted the community and began searching for her. According to neighbours, Simphiwe never reached the shop where she was meant to go buy the bread. She was found allegedly murdered on Tuesday evening, not far from her home. A community member who did not want to be named said they were shocked as this was the first time such an incident had happened in their area. "We started searching for Simphiwe on Tuesday morning until the evening of Tuesday evening, when her body was found inside a bag that is used to carry around a camping chair," she said.

MURDERED

North West police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh said the Klipgat police are investigating an inquest after the body of an eight-year-old girl was found in a bag used to store a camping chair. "The girl was reported missing by her mother on Monday at about 20:00. A search the next day by police and community members led to her body being discovered near a dumping site. The cause of death is unknown at this stage," she said.
