Founder of Ungazibulali Awareness Campaign, Nkululeko Khanyi, is receiving death threats after having to borrow money after his main sponsor pulled out on the last hour. Nkululeko has been running his mental wellness business ,Ungazibulali, for eight years. He also hosts annual events to discuss issues of mental health, depression and anxiety.

PULLING OUT

He is currently trying to find ways to stay alive while paying off his debt. A close friend revealed that Nkululeko had been organising his annual Ungazibulali event at the Durban ICC for 12 October when the main sponsor pulled out a few days before. "The stage was organised, people had booked flights for the event in Durban and there was no way he could possibly cancel the event, so he went ahead with it,' the colleague said. "He borrowed money from various people, hoping he would be able to pay them back in time, but it has been tough. He owes over R180 000.'

ARRANGEMENTS

The colleagues said Nkululeko managed to make arrangements with some people he was owing to pay off in instalments. He also arranged with some of the service providers, but he the money is not enough and it has now resulted in him getting death threats. "You don't know what these people can do, some are dangerous. Money is a very touchy and serious subject,' the source said.

Nkululeko told Zimoja that he is not ready to talk about the matter and just trying to resolve the debt. "I just want to clear my head first. This has been very stressful.'
