Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are heading to the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus to pick up their accreditation for the upcoming party elective conference. The conference, which will be the party's third National People's Assembly will take place in Nasrec, south of Johannesburg, over the weekend.

A FRESH START

The conference is set to draw in over 2,000 red berets from all over the country, where they'll elect new leaders, revisit their policies and discuss political and organisational reports.

ALL SET

Tomorrow, the red berets's central command team members will kick off their day by reviewing the accomplishments of the party's leaders since the last conference in 2019. Outgoing national chairperson Veronica Mente has praised Julius Malema, suggesting he deserves a third term. "If the branches support him, Malema has made it clear he's ready to continue as the sole leader of the red berets since we started in 2013. He's done a great job so far. Without his leadership, after the 2024 elections, who knows what could have happened, especially with the tensions in KwaZulu-Natal. I truly believe he should return to lead the EFF. I have no complaints about him; I commend him for handling all the challenges and the misinformation surrounding the EFF," she stated. The party will hold a press briefing this afternoon on the state of readiness for the conference.
