The police are yet to arrest the convicted fraudster and self-styled millionaire Mandla Lamba after he allegedly defrauded an unsuspecting victim of R200,000 after promising him delivery scooters. Last week, the Gauteng police issued a statement asking the public to help them locate Lamba for the case that was opened against him last year.
IN PLAIN SIGHT
Despite the police claiming they don't know where to find the fraudster, Lamba is going on with business as usual, where he is still encouraging people to buy scooters through his company, Agilitee SA. Yesterday, Lamba posted a video of one of the scooters he sells. The caption of the video posted by Lamba states: "The time is now. Get your scooter now and let it go to work and make money for you." In the 1-minute, 30-second video, a man wearing an Agilitee t-shirt shows a delivery man wearing a popular fast food restaurant jacket how the scooter is used. Scooters are in demand in the country and are used for fast food deliveries.
WANTED
Last week, Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said Lamba allegedly posted a false advertisement on Facebook for scooters, leading a complainant to deposit R200,000. "The Gauteng police are seeking assistance in locating Doctor Enoch Mandla Lamba, a 39-year-old man, who committed fraud in Midrand, Johannesburg District, in May 2023," Sibeko said then. The police urged anyone with information about Lamba's whereabouts to contact the investigating officer. On his Facebook account, Lamba has been congratulating clients he claims have bought the scooter from him. On December 5, he posted on his timeline: "They have been added to start receiving payments from next week. It's hlafuning time." On the same day, he congratulated five other clients. "Their scooters are scheduled to start on Wednesday next week. This means they will be making money every week as their scooters will be doing food deliveries. This platform seeks to transform many of our people into entrepreneurs so that they can own their businesses and feed their children. Congratulations to you all." While the police are yet to make an arrest, Lamba continues to count thousands of Rands he is making through selling the same scooters the police allege he defrauded someone for. Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said as per the statement issued last week, anyone who knows his whereabouts and can assist police in arresting him is requested to contact them.
