Disbarred advocate Malesela Teffo has opened a case of intimidation against music mogul Sello "Chicco" Twala. Teffo claims that during a phone call with Twala last week, the I'm A Soldier hitmaker threatened to call izinkabi (hitmen) on him to kill him.
HE WANTS CHICCO TO ANSWER HIM IN COURT
He said that he wants Twala to answer in a court of law because he made serious threats against him. "I don't want to dwell much on the matter because it is with the police, but he must explain to the court of the law what I have done to deserve such threats," he said. When asked why he called Twala, Teffo said that did not matter, and all he wanted was for the legendary musician to face the full might of the law. "I don't know why Chicco would want me dead. That's why I opened the case so that he can tell me in court," he said. According to a source, he was asking Chicco for money.
MADNESS
When called, Twala said he is concerned about Teffo, indicating that he believes a mental evaluation is necessary. "Every week he is opening a case against someone. If it's not me, it's Cyril Ramaphosa. I wonder who is next. Instead of wasting state resources, he must prove that I threatened him; I won't be entertaining this madness,' he said. Teffo came to be known in the media circles when he represented four of the five accused charged with the killing of former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa. He claimed at the Gauteng North High Court then that Longwe brought Twala's gun to the house and gave it to Kelly Khumalo, who pulled the trigger and fatally wounded Meyiwa. Teffo said the police had opened a case on the people who were in the house when Meyiwa was killed. He suggested that the National Prosecuting Authority should charge Kelly Khumalo, her mother Ntombi, her sister Zandie and her former lover Longwe Twala.
Teffo was disbarred as an advocate in September 2022 after the court found that he lacked a sense of responsibility, honesty and integrity following several incidents of misconduct. Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that a case of intimidation and crimen injuria has been opened at Lyttelton Police Station. "Investigation is underway and no arrests have been made yet," Masondo said.
