DJ Tira fights back

DJ Tira has given Luke Ntombela seven days to unconditionally apologise to him

Prominent businessman, producer and performer, DJ Tira has come out guns blazing against his former artist, Luke Ntombela. Last week, Ntombela went on different social media platforms seeking answers from DJ Tira, real name Mthokozisi Khathi, on what happened to her when she allegedly woke up naked in the DJ's bed.

SEXUAL ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS

In a series of social media posts and videos, Ntombela from Escourt in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands demanded to know how she woke up in the same bed as Tira. "I hear you saying this and that about witchcraft. How do you explain the pain of waking up in someone's bed when you're blacked out?" she said suggesting that she may have been sexually assaulted by Tira. "That person continues touching you as if you are lovers. I'm giving you one last chance to explain to me, what happened on that day where I ended up in your bed. You know that I had blacked out, but you continued touching me inappropriately as if we were dating," she posted. "No matter how powerful and rich you are, you can never be above God and can never buy/bribe God!" In one of the conversations with DJ Tira, he offered to give her R35 000, but she turned it down, opting only to know what happened between the two of them. Ntombela has not stopped asking on her videos: "Tira, please explain to me, what happened?" Ntombela wrote.

FIGHTING TO CLEAR HIS NAME

In a bid to clear his name, DJ Tira has taken legal action against the musician who was part of Clash of the Choirs. In the letter of demand by his legal team, Khathi & Mkhize Attorneys, they accuse Ntombela of trying to blackmail DJ Tira, who is married to former Mafikizolo dancer and now businesswoman and reality star, Gugu Khathi. The cease-and-desist letter read, "It became apparent from the Ukhozi FM Radio station interview that your allegations were devoid of substance and logic but full of malice and desire to blackmail our clients into paying you money for undetermined reasons under the guise of our client owing you some money for performing musical exercises."

SEVEN DAYS TO APOLOGISE

Ntombela was invited to Ukhozi FM's breakfast show, Vuka Afrika Breakfast Show, a few days after her social media rant. The letter continued: "You must further conduct a radio interview through the same radio station, retract the interview you conducted and offer an unconditional apology. Our instructions are that retractions should be done within seven days from the date herein and the failure of which will leave our clients without an option but to seek a legal redress against your unlawful conduct to protect our client's brand."

The letter sent to Ntombela, came at a time when DJ Tira released a line-up of Fact Durban Rocks July 2024, to coincide with Durban July. Ntombela refused to comment.
