The City of Tshwane confirmed that it has 45 videos depicting the abuse of patrons by security guards at the Zanzou nightclub in Hatfield. The establishment has been making headlines after a video of five men being physically and sexually assaulted surfaced online this week. Police have since launched a manhunt for eight foreign national suspects in connection with the assault.

Tshwane Health MMC Tshegofatso Mashabela explained that the municipality had obtained some of the footage and was working to acquire more to strengthen the case with the police. "We received close to 45 videos and we just saw a circulating video whereby the person who came out with this information says that he has 75 videos that he is going to share with the public, including the fact that there were lives of people were robbed in this establishment," Mashabela said. The said videos were publicised by a former bouncer who claims to have left his job at the club due to the violent culture at the venue. Police have identified the man as a person of interest and have urged him to come forward, as he claims to have filmed dozens of videos documenting similar incidents at the nightclub. Investors, partners, and businessmen known as the owners of Zanzou have all denied any association with the establishment.
LIQUOR LICENCE SUSPENDED
Meanwhile, the Gauteng Liquor Board (GLB) has suspended Zanzou nightclub's liquor licence. The board said it has decided to suspend the club's liquor licence pending the conclusion of a formal inquiry and the completion of SAPS investigations. "The GLB remains committed to ensuring liquor licence holders operate in a manner that upholds the law and protects the public. Establishments found to violate the act will face appropriate regulatory and legal consequences," it said.
