After his release from prison in August 2023 after serving three years for killing his fiancée, Catherine Modisane, rapper Pitch Black Afro, real name Thulani Ngcobo, has gotten back to making music and performing at events. However, his past still lingers. The Izandl Phezulu rapper reflected on the height of his career and how he went from being an award-winning top rapper to being in prison.
HITS
He had briefly opened up about how his former manager DJ Cleo, real name Tlou Cleopas Monyepao, did not pay him royalties for his big hit, Matofotofo, and that strained their relationship. "He ran off with my money, and we are not close." Pitch Black Afro said he is letting karma take its course. "I am not fighting; I just want God to handle the matter."
ESTABLISHED
He said they had not buried the hatchet even after his release from prison. "I'm keeping my distance because I don't like conflict," he said. "One day the truth will come out, and I just want to make peace with myself," he told ZiMoja. Pitch Black slammed any talk that DJ Cleo discovered him and introduced him to show business. "I was already known by the time he met me," he says. DJ Cleo declined to comment.
