CRIMEWATCH: A woman and her brother arrested for allegedly killing her baby

Siblings arrested for the alleged murder of an infant

LIMPOPO: A 26-year-old mother and her brother (43) have been arrested for allegedly killing her newborn baby by stabbing her with a sharp instrument in Lasteehoop Ga-Malatji on Wednesday afternoon. SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said police found the lifeless body of an infant buried in a shallow grave. He said preliminary investigations revealed that the infant's mother and her brother killed the child after she was born at home. The two suspects were linked to the incident and immediately arrested. The circumstances that led to the incident are still under police investigation. The suspects will appear before Mankweng Magistrate's Court soon.


GAUTENG: The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has confirmed that Boksburg prison escapee Martin Jackson has successfully been apprehended and returned to custody. The department spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo, said his mysterious escape has led the authorities to move him to a C-Max facility. Nxumalo said a full investigation is being conducted to understand the circumstances surrounding the escape and to prevent future incidents. Jackson will now face additional criminal charges related to the escape.


LIMPOPO: The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned the killing of a 44-year-old man in a mob attack at Makhutso village. SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said the police were alerted about a mob attack between the bushes of Mologadi and Makhutso villages and upon arrival at the scene, they discovered a naked man lying down with burnt flesh. He said there were also stones and sticks spotted at the scene. The man was certified dead at the scene by paramedics and his identity is currently withheld pending further investigations. According to Mashaba, preliminary investigations revealed that the community accused the victim of stock theft around the area. The police have opened a case of murder.
