Ukhozi FM continues to mourn newsreader who succumbed to kidney failure

Tributes continue to pour in for the late Ukhozi FM newsreader and current affairs lead Bongani Mavuso

Tributes have continued to pour in for newsreader, businessman and poet Bongani Mavuso who passed away on Tuesday morning after a short illness. Mavuso who also owned KaMavuso Verse Entertainment is said to have passed away after he was admitted at the Umhlanga Private Hospital in Durban following a kidney failure.

HE WANTED TO EDUCATE THE YOUTH

According to a fellow colleague and SABC 1 Newsreader Calvin Dludla, Mavuso was a good man who had a fought a good fight for years. "Mavuso was a good person and we are saddened about his passing away because he had a lot planned for the future. May his soul rest in eternally,' he said. Another close friend and family spokesperson Thabani Zibani said that they have lost a good man in Mavuso. "He became sick and he was rushed to Mhlanga Private Hospital because he was feeling weak. He had begun dialysis and was planning to start a campaign to educate the youth, especially in black communitie,s about the ways to keep your kidneys clean and health. It's a pity that he didn't make his dream a reality,' said Zibani.

UNEARTHING RAW TALENT

Sbongi Ngcobo, Ukhozi FM Business Manager said that, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of our colleague Bongani Mavuso. He contributed immensely to the station not only as a host of various current affairs shows but also as a contributor on the feature "Back to my Roots' that he hosted on Jabulujule with Lady D. Through this feature he unearthed and coached a lot of young poets some of whom have gone on to become household names. As UkhoziFM we would like to send our condolences to his family; the colleagues and all of his fans that loved him so much. We have indeed lost a giant. Phumula qhawe, uyibekile induku ebandla'.
