Controversial politician Nomvula 'Mama Action' Mokonyane will get some action in a new film that was inspired by her political career titled The Fall and Rise of Mama Action. In political circles, Mokonyane, a controversial figure, is known by the nickname Mama Action. Mokonyane was elected Deputy General Secretary of the ruling ANC in December last year.
CONTROVERSY
Mokonyane is one of the ANC politicians who were fingered by former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi as being corrupt and benefitted from Bosasa during the State Capture Commission. Agrizzi, who appeared at the inquiry in 2020 , said Mokonyane had benefited from security upgrades worth R40 000 to her Krugersdorp home. He also told the commission that Mokonyane received monthly payments from Bosasa and that he, Agrizzi, was present when the late and former Bosasa chief executive Gavin Watson visited Mokonyane's home and handed her a bag filled with cash. Mokonyane also allegedly received food parcels and donations from Bosasa for the burial of her son. Mama Action denied the allegations against her.
SYNOPSIS
The new movie, to be released next week, is produced, and directed by Sello "Chicco" Twala.
In the past, the music mogul has produced and directed movies like Ntate Moruti and Madluphuthu. According to the synopsis of the movie seen by ZiMoja, the film is based on true events of Mama Action and a disgruntled rubble collector who blames Mokonyane and some of her colleagues in politics for ruining his life." Jimmy Sbu Kandaba 9Mama Action's boyfriend) is one of the corrupt politicians who steals the wife of a rubble collector," says the synopsis. The synopsis of the movie continues: "Jealous Mama Action later teams up with the rubble collector and exposes her boyfriend Jimmy and two of her corrupt colleagues who were behind disseminating homes by stealing the rubble collector's wife and girlfriend using state resources."
KELLY KHUMALO AND KHANYI MBAU STARTS IN THE MOVIE
Controversial figures, Kelly Khumalo and Khanyi Mbau will star in the movie. Khanyi has appeared in several TV dramas, while Kelly has focused on her music career. Kelly, is the baby mama of slain Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa. Chicco is credited for saving Kelly's dying music career. He recorded Kelly when she did the remake of Yvonne Chaka Chaka's song, Asine. The song proved to be a huge success, since it made her tour some parts of the African continent and the world. She managed to get gigs across the country.
THE CAST
Some of the actors who are part of the controversial movie include Mara Loue, Ntshepiseng Montshiwa, Fiona Chimusasa, King Jange and Owen Madiba. Twala told ZiMoja that his soon-to-released movie might ruffle some feathers in the political circles. He said it is time people talk openly about corruption, but added that he didn't defame anyone in the movie.
