A week ago, comedian and Gagasi FM radio host Felix Hlophe became a joke when he posted photos of himself wearing fake designer clothes. Hlophe was trolled on social media for wearing fake Karl Lagerfeld t-shirt and sneakers he allegedly bought at a boutique in Umlazi, KwaZulu Natal. It's said he spent R14 000 at the boutique.
A MOCKERY
Soon after that, graphic designer and DJ Nathi Mkhize of Lockooza Graphics took the joke to a new level when he created a new design using Hlophe's face and Karl Lagerfeld logo. In trying to mock Hlophe, Mkhize posted the design and called it Karl Lagerfeld brought to you by Felix Hlophe. In a turn of events, Hlophe was again spotted wearing the t-shirts with Mkhize's design. Hlophe allegedly used Mkhize's design to custom clothes in different colours which he has been wearing in the last week.
DESIGNER DEMANDING CREDIT
Once again, Hlophe became a laughing stock when he posted a picture of himself wearing clothes bearing Mkhize's design. This soon escalated to a war of words between the two when Mkhize asked the comedian to credit him for coming up with the design. "Hey Felix, a simple thank you was going to be enough as I managed to turn your unfortunate incident into something that you are now proudly wearing," Mkhize wrote. Hlophe responded: "I've had enough of people taking advantage and making a mockery of me. I want to teach you a lesson and you will regret this for the rest of your life. I have instructed my lawyers to serve with court papers for using my pictures without my consent. You will regret it as papers are coming through this week." Hlophe added. In response Mkhize said he was not of the comedian and dared him to 'bring it on!
TAKING LEGAL ACTION
When Hlophe was contacted for comment he said: "I've reported the matter to my attorney. He is busy drafting papers. I just want to set an example with him." Attempts to get comment from Mkhize proved fruitless as he ignored text messages sent to him. This was despite him agreeing to respond to the threats made by Hlophe.
