When actors did not get paid when Nikiwe was terminated, actors threatened e-tv with a lawsuit. But the channel has finally addressed the concerns that it is their fault for not paying actors.
The channel addressed the allegations citing that they have paid PAP, the production company which produced the show but failed to deliver according to their contract.
CHASING THEIR MONEY
The company is co-owned by Lungelo Radu and Thomas Gumede. In a statement released by the channel, they set the record straight and said, "At the end of 2022, e.tv commissioned Parental Advisory Productions (PAP) 260x23 minimum episodes of the daily drama. Nikiwe. It is important to note that despite being paid full for 260 episodes, they only delivered 190 episodes. etv owns the 190 episodes that were delivered despite having paid for 260 episodes.
e.tv therefore more than met its financial obligations and any queries around financial obligations to crew and cast should be directed to PAP. "
Actors who spoke to Zimoja said they are are still chasing their money. According to one actor who spoke on condition of anonymity, PAP co-owner Lungelo
Radu and business partner have been ignoring their calls, including emails.
LIVING LARGE WHILE STAFF STRUGGLES
Another actor said what PAP is doing is wrong because they are living large as the company executives, while they are suffering and struggling to make ends meet.
"They're driving big cars and living large while we are losing our material possessions. It is unfair especially because they have been actors themselves too,"added the actor.
Another source said they have been begging and pleading with Lungelo and Thomas to pay them to no avail.
"We are suffering because our families depend on us. Both actors and crew members need the cash. These two guys must be cancelled for what they doing to us," the source suggested.
In his response, Radu said he has nothing to do with payments.
"Why don't you call e-tv since they are the ones that issued a statement. I dont? have time for this- I am busy," he said before hanging up.
