Body parts in fridge: Victim's family believes Flavio Hlabangwane is not remorseful

Flavio Hlabangwane will know his fate in May

The family of Tshepang Pitse vowed to never forgive Flavio Hlabangwane for killing their daughter. They want Hlabangwane to reveal the rest of the missing body parts belonging to Pitse. Hlabangwane was found guilty of the murder of his cousin who was also his lover Tshepang Pitse. He appeared at the Johannesburg High court sitting in Palmridge Magistrate court on Thursday. Hlabangwane was found guilty of murder, violation of a corpse and defeating the ends of justice.

HLABANGWANE NOT REMOURSEFUL

Tshepang's aunt Dephny Joao expressed pain and anger in Hlabangwane's behavior.  "He seems so unbothered and happy; he gives us silly looks. At this point I don't care whether he goes away forever, or he is released, I just want him to point out the rest of Tshepang's body parts so we can bury them. We can't even erect a tombstone or mourn fully because we are hoping that he will tell us where he took the rest of her parts and that will again bring immense pain to us," Joao said. She said they will never ever be in talks with Hlabangwane's family again because they also seem to care less. " They have never come to us to offer condolences or ask for forgiveness on behalf of their son. Even when they see us, they don't talk to us or even greet us, it's as if we've wronged them. We will not heal nor forgive this brutality," she said.

MATTER POSTPONED

The matter was postponed because the state received the probation report an hour before the court proceedings. The state asked for a postponement so they can go through the report. The defence agreed to this saying that they also needed time to go through the report. "The officer that was supposed to present the report to court didn't bother to come, I'm told he is somewhere in Pretoria and had I known that a person who works on government would simply not come to court I would have subpoenaed him," said the State prosecutor Advocate Johan Badenhorst. Badenhorst said there's a possibility that they will call the probation officers and witnesses to take the stand, but that decision will be made after they go through the report.

TSHEPANG LURED TO HER DEATH

State prosecutor Advocate Johan Badenhorst told the court that the deceased had moved back to her father's house two months prior to her death. However, Hlabangwane lured her back to his place for a study session and that same day was the last Tshepang's father spoke to her. "My Lord remembers the accused reminded the deceased of what will happen when she leaves the ship? Well, we all know what happened. Well, we put to the court that the deceased couldn't 'abandon' the ship, even in her death and that's why Hlabangwane kept parts of her body in the fridge, even bringing other women over for Tshepang spirit to see,'.

ADMITTING GUILT

In January Hlabangwane admitted to the court that he planned to kill Tshepang after he found out she had cheated on him. He also told the court that since then, he felt nothing but hatred towards the deceased and resentment. "I started to search the internet on ways to kill a person and dispose of the body,' he told the court last week Thursday. This follows a testimony made by a friend of the deceased Thulisile Lubambo who knew about the abuse between the pair. The matter will be back in court on the 3rd of May pre-sentencing proceedings.
