Tumelo Madlala will continue with re-examination by the state when court resumes tomorrow. During cross examination with Advocate Zandile Mshololo, Madlala insisted that he reported Senzo's death to his mother but never spoke to the father about it. "I arrived from Joburg during the memorial. I was hoping to find Senzo's parents there but I did not. I then went home and found his mother and other people and that's when I spoke to her,"said Madlala. Madlala said it's not true that Senzo's father barred him from attending the funeral. "The only reason I did not go to the graveyard is because it was full and the deceased cousin said we should go back home."
A NEIGHBOUR'S STATEMENT
Mshololo then went back to the night of the incident reading a statement from a neighbour Khaya Nqashe. Mshololo read Nqaya's statement to the court saying, "I was in my bedroom and that's when I heard the commotion and shoving at the Khumalo household. I thought there was a party as it was so loud. The shoving led me to peep through the bedroom window .I saw the person whose back was against the kitchen window of the Khumalo residence. The person was wearing a white t-shirt. it is then when the shot was fired."Madlala responded that it was Meyiwa who was a wearing a white t-shirt as far as he could remember.
FORCE USED
When Mshololo asked Madlala if he was staying at a safe house he said he no longer stays there.
" I was taken there by an investigating officer known as Buthelezi who was at some point kind to me and even took me to Senzo's grave with the hope that I would confess. She even got frustrated with me and said she would shoot me because I don't want to speak. When she realised that I wasn't budging she then turned to Mthoko and took him to Pretoria where he was beaten to a pulp and even peed on himself. All this fiasco with all these statements were acquired by force. I'm certain she wanted to be praised for a good job."
POSSIBILITY OF NEW WITNESS
Mshololo concluded her cross-examination. State prosecutor Advocate George Baloyi re-examined the witness. Baloyi asked Madlala who had requested him to come to Joburg and If he made a statement on the day of the incident. Madlala responded," it's Senzo who asked me to come to Joburg and he knew I was broke that's why he promised to send me money. However, I got the money from Kelly after the deceased instructed her. The state will conclude its re-examination tomorrow, it is likely that a new witness will be brought in on Monday as the trial continues.
