The leader of uMkhonto weSizwe and former President Jacob Zuma has threatened that his party will not go to the National Assembly if the IEC does not recount their votes. Zuma said this outside the Electoral Court sitting at the Johannesburg High Court where he won a court case against expelled MK Party co- founder Jabulani Khumalo today.
HE WAS BOUGHT WITH A MILLION RANDS
Khumalo, who co-founded the party, was expelled alongside other members just before the general elections. However, Khumalo wanted his expulsion from the party to be declared invalid and unlawful. Khumalo was insisting that he is still the registered leader of the party. Khumalo argued that Zuma was unlawfully named as the party leader by IEC, while Zuma said Khumalo was only an interim leader. The case was dismissed with costs.
Speaking outside court, Zuma said that Khumalo was bought with R1 million to destabilise MK Party. "I was the one who came up with the plan to form the MK Party. I warned Khumalo not to get over excited about the MK project. His own brother even warned him not to challenge me, but he didn't listen because they gave him money to try and fight me. If I was Jabulani, I was going to take money and go enjoy it in Eshowe," Zuma said. He added that he began noticing that Khumalo was given money when he started changing cars. "He then started disappearing every time we needed to meet. Then he started rebelling against the principles of the MK Party," he said.
CASE AGAINST IEC
Addressing his supporters outside court, Zuma said the party has filed a court case against the IEC because they want the commission to recount MK Party votes. "We have evidence that they took MK votes and gave them to other parties. They did this together with the ANC. They want to stay in power by force. We are going to deal with them. If they don't, we will not go to the National Assembly," Zuma said to a loud cheering. He continued, "If they do not do a recount, this will mean that there won't be a president in this country. Those seats that we have mean a lot to us. We are going to kick the ANC out of Parliament. We want the IEC to recount out votes manually. We warned them on Sunday not to release the results until they fixed what they did wrong. They didn't listen. We have our own intelligence that was able to give us evidence on the wrongdoings of the IEC," he said.
