Bonginkosi "Zola 7" Dlamini’s former manager is allegedly refusing to give the singer’s social media login details after they parted ways a few months ago. In a bid to stop him and other unscrupulous people from benefitting money using his name, Zola, has decided to change his social media handles. Zola says he was made aware of scammers soliciting money from unsuspecting fans pretending to be him. Together with his new management: Untamed Communications, they announced that all of Zola 7’s social media handles, with the exception of his current X profile (formerly Twitter), have been updated.
MISUSE OF HIS BRAND
According to his management, the former social media manager has refused to perform an official handover to them. "We are also aware that a lot of people are still using his old contact and booking information. We urge you to familiarise yourselves with this new booking/contact and information to avoid being scammed or miss the chance to ensure that Zola 7 will be booked for your event," Untamed Communications said in a statement. The statement included Zola’s official social media channels and contact details.
A FRAUD CASE OPENED LAST YEAR
Last year April, a case of fraud was opened against a man posing as Zola after promoter Queen Kay deposited R10 000 for Zola to perform, only to be told the money went to the wrong bank account. This also caused some tension between Zola and Queen Kay, after she posted an event poster on Facebook with Zola 7’s face on it... as a headline act. After Zola saw the poster, he told his fans that he would not perform for a gig he was never paid for.
