A woman (20) who allegedly killed her boyfriend's child and attacked his wife in a love triangle will remain in custody until her next court appearance. Abtanoria Sekopa from Moremadi Park in Mankweng, Limpopo appeared in the Mankweng Magistrates Court yesterday on charges of murder and attempted murder.

ATTACKING THE CHILD 

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the police received a complaint about the incident where Sekopa allegedly used a shovel to fatally beat her boyfriend's child and poured boiling water on his wife on Wednesday evening. "Upon arrival, police found a male foreign national who pointed to a three-year-old child who was lying on the bed with a severe wound on the upper body. The members of the Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene for medical assistance. But the child was certified dead on their arrival," Ledwaba said. 

A LOVE TRIANGLE

Ledwaba said the police's preliminary investigations revealed that Sekopa was fighting with the child's 24-year-old mother, who is also her boyfriend's wife. "During the fight, the suspect, who is also alleged to be the girlfriend of a foreign male national, hit a three-year-old baby boy with a spade, leading to his death. Afterward, the suspect further attacked the mother of the child by pouring boiling water on her. She sustained severe burn wounds on her body and was transported to the local hospital for medical treatment. The suspect was arrested at the scene," Ledwaba added. She is facing charges of murder and attempted murder, and her case was postponed to July 15, 2024, for bail applications and further police investigations.
