The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) leader, Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, is mourning the death of his daughter, Olga Meshoe-Washington. She died at the hospital in America where she was based after she was diagnosed with lupus.
ANOTHER LOSS FOR REVEREND KENNETH
Olga was married to Joshua David Washington almost eight years ago. The couple, who stayed in the United States, celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary last month. Olga's passing follows that of her mother, Dr. Lydia Meshoe, in January 2023. Lydia, who was also president of ACDP's Women of Destiny, was married to Reverend Meshoe for 46 years when she passed.
HUSBAND PAID TRIBUTE
After Olga's passing, Washington explained the passing of his wife on his social media, which was accompanied by their photo during happier times. He wrote: "My wife passed away this morning at 3:30am with her hand in mine. After being diagnosed with lupus a few weeks ago, my wife passed out in the Newark airport on her way home on December 26. i would have lost her then had my brother-in-law not been travelling back to the states with her." Washington added, "I took the next flight up from Charlotte and was with her in the ICU. She was transitioned to a normal room, which kept us all in high spirits. She had a minor operation due tomorrow, but unfortunately, she did not make it to the sunrise."
"I didn't know she was about to transition, but I slept in the hospital rooms with her and was able to speak to and sing to her just about 30 minutes before she passed."
The musician added, "She always talked about the day when she would finally hear the applause of Heaven for the life she lived. That day is today. No other words to offer at the moment except please keep the Washington and Meshoe family in your prayers." The couple was blessed with two sons, Ezra, who turned six in December, and three-year-old Judah.
TRIBUTES
ACDP also confirmed Olga's passing in a statement and said they are extremely saddened and broken by her death. "After a short illness, she passed on in the USA on 6 January 2025, with her husband, Joshua Washington, holding her hand at her hospital bedside. Olga was a qualified attorney who had also completed her MBA with distinction. She was a bright, intelligent, articulate person who loved and served her Saviour, Christ Jesus, with excellence, setting an example for many to follow," the party said in a statement. The party asked that the family be given space and privacy to be able to mourn her passing.
