He has not paid his staff at production Pound4Pound in almost two months. Actors and crew have been patiently waiting and after being exposed to the media, they hoped he would hear their cry. But their plight has fallen on deaf ears and actor and businessman Kagiso Modupe still continues to make "excuses' for lack of payment.
NOT THE FIRST TIME
An insider revealed that the Bakwena Productions owner recently bought his wife a car. "A Range Rover! But he still has not paid the staff. This is not the first time, he did the same thing on the show Losing Lerato and Ingoma,' an actor revealed. "We wrapped Pound4 Pound and he hasn't paid. We are very patient but by the time our money comes, we would have accumulated so much debt because we keep lending money from Mashonisa," said an actor.
The actor said he had to resort to a loan shark to pay for his car. "I need to take kids to school, so I need the car. I am behind on rent and school fees. Baby mamas think we are lying when stars like us can't make ends meet.' He said he chose to speak on condition of anonymity because, "If I use my name, and complain, I might not be cast again. I will be considered a diva.'
APOLOGIES
Kagiso sent the staff a message apologising to the staff for the delays. "We are having sleepless nights and we are so going through the same stress.' He said, his company has always been on time with payments and he values the staff's contribution to shooting an entire series in 21 days. He added that the series has been awarded a second season despite the challenges and would ideally like to retain the same crew. "Money is,however, not readily available."
