Legendary jazz musician Andile Yenana will continue with the show he has planned for the fundraising of the late Suthukazi Arosi. The event, penned for February 28 at Niki's Oasis Jazz Restaurant in Joburg, was meant to raise funds for Arosi's medical bills.

The fundraising event was planned after Arosi's family issued a statement asking for donations to cover her medical bills last month. At the time, the family said that she needed money to go through chemotherapy. The line-up includes Andile Yenana (piano), Thuto Motsemme (bass), Zoe The Seed (vocals), Thabo Sikhakhane (trumpet), Bucco Xaba (drums), and Sivuyile Jengu on piano. Arosi family spokesperson ,Bongani Mahlangu, said, "The show continues. Proceeds will be donated to the family."
SHE SUCCUMBED TO CANCER
Arosi succumbed to cancer on Thursday. The 63-year-old songstress hails from Cala in the Eastern Cape and has been in the showbiz industry for at least 40 years. Arosi worked with legends from the USA, United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, France, Portugal and Singapore. Locally musical couple she worked with Caiphus Semenya and Letta Mbulu, Jonas Gwangwa, Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masekela, amongst many. She also toured the US as part of The Lion King, where she played the parts of Ensemble and Rafiki. An HIV/AIDS activist and philanthropist, Arosi rose to fame with popular songs such as Ingane Yabelungu, and Wemntwana Omnyama, Ulele, Vumani, Umziwasha, and Amanyala. She is one of the few artists to perform at birthday bashes of former presidents Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki.
