Skomota, Mayhogurt and Tsekeleke have not allowed their physical appearances to deter them from pursuing their dream, instead, they have embraced their differences and used it as an opportunity to make a living in the ever-so cutthroat showbiz industry. They continue to shine regardless of sometimes encountering judgement from society at times.
Mayhogurt's rising star
The star, whose real name is Mongezi Mjama, made a name for himself when he made an appearance on Mzansi Magic's reality show, Sweet & Short. Now he's forged ahead in the maskandi genre and remains unstoppable. He was inspired by artists like Umgqumeni and has collaborated with various artists, including Gatsheni, Stability and Ntencane. He was also part of the 11th edition of the music festival in Moses Mabhida Stadium, in Durban. He said that he was revelling on his newly found fame. Although both of his parents are still alive, his grandmother on his father's side of the family, raised him. He was born in Umzimkhulu and currently resides in the Vaal.
Skomota's rise to fame
Skomota, whose real name is Thabang Sefala, was born in Limpopo, but is now based in Tshwane. He is known for his dance moves. He made a name for himself when he appeared on a YouTube podcast talking about how much money he has and that he gives women R10 000 for mavuso. He continues to make a name for himself when he gets invitations to perform or make appearances at various events. He still beats the odds stacked against him as he continues to strive to build his brand. He also has an upcoming reality show on Moja LOVE which starts on 15 February at 20h30.
Tsekeleke's strides in showbiz
He has become an overnight sensation on social media with his uniue dance style and openly sharing his relationship with his girlfriend, Black Cat. With the support of Doctor Malinga, he has been able to take on national stages dancing and showing off his unique styles, despite his weight. People are attracted to Tsekelele because of his humour and authentic content such as farting or crying during his Lives on social media.People have gravitated towards his authentic content making him popular.
