The Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has assured his followers that the party is fine and won't be destroyed by people who did not build it. This comes after the former chairperson of the EFF, Advocate Dali Mpofu, joined uMkhonto weSizwe Party.
NOT MOVED
Malema is adamant that the EFF is the future and it won't be destabilised by opportunism. Speaking to the media in Botswana at the inauguration of the new president of that country, Malema said: "The EFF can't fall apart because you can't destroy that which you did not build; it is our child, it is our baby and we will decide what we will do with it; the EFF is the future," he said. When asked if he has a relationship with former President Jacob Zuma since all party leaders and MPs who left the party joined the MK Party, Malema said he does not have a personal relationship with the political contenders. "He is a political leader and I am also a political leader; that is where our relationship starts and ends. Where we agree on issues, we will share a common perspective; where we disagree, we will do that respectfully," he said.
WARM WELCOME
Meanwhile, Malema who was banned from Botswana 13 years ago, was welcomed with resounding cheers at the the Botswana Presidential inauguration of Duma Boko. Botswana government lifted the travel ban on Malema after he made comments that he wanted to overthrow Ian Khama's government. President Boko removed Malema's name from the list of individuals barred from entering Botswana and former EFF Deputy President Floyd Shivambu, who is now a member of Umkhonto WeSizwe Party. South African businesswoman Bridgette Radebe has also been unbanned.
