Singer Amanda Black said she was taken aback by rumours that recently went viral on social media about allegedly being sexually assaulted by a fellow musician, Jabulani "Sjava" Radebe. Amanda Black has come forward to clear her name and that of the Sayona singer.
FASE ALLEGATIONS
Amanda said she does not know where and how the rumour claiming she was sexually assaulted by Sjava started. The two previously worked together at their former label Ambitiouz Entertainment and made the song Phumelela with Miss Pru and Saudi before she left in 2018. Contrary to the rumours stated, Amanda said they are far from the truth. "Sjava did not sexually assault me. I have no idea where these rumours came from, but they are not true and did not come from me."
CASE CLOSED
In 2020, the court threw out rape charges against Sjava levelled by ex-lover Yami Lady Zama" Banda. Lady Zamar opened a case of rape that allegedly happened at a hotel in Thohoyondou, Limpopo, in 2017 after a concert. The Collide singer said she was defenseless. "I went to his hotel room because it was daytime. He started taking off my clothes. And he raped me. I couldn't fight; I was in stitches. I was bleeding. I hated him. At that moment, I was afraid of him."
CLEARED!
The case was later dropped by the NPA in 2020 due to insufficient evidence to proceed with the charges. NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said at the time that the state declined to prosecute the case. "It is believed the facts or evidence do not support a successful prosecution," Malabi-Dzhangi said. Sjava went on to share that he has never once sexually abused a woman. "I am not a rapist. I have for years been advocating against abuse of any kind, any shape or form, be it women or children abuse, even alcohol abuse,' said Sjava.
