Reality TV star Nkateko 'Kay' Mahange has accused the mother of his child, Khaya Nqolase, of displaying harmful behaviour and creating an unsafe environment for their infant. The star from The Ultimatum: South Africa is now fighting for custody.
THE SPLIT
Khanya and Nkateko split in May 2024 and learned after the breakup about the baby on the way. After learning about the pregnancy, Nkateko proposed with a promise ring at the time to prioritise therapy for both he and her, given the emotional and mental challenges they faced before, during, and after the show. "Shortly after shooting the reunion, Khanya and I agreed that even though we are not together anymore, what matters more is finalising matters regarding Qhawe (their child),' he said. "We were adamant about not reuniting solely for the sake of our child, understanding the importance of healing as individuals,' he said.
GETTING PHYSICAL
In a three-page statement, Nkateko has since detailed the toxicity in his ex and moments with Khanya that led to the break-up. He accused Khanya of taking illegal substances during the pregnancy. "There were moments when Khanya displayed erratic and violent behaviour that I could not ignore,' he said. "She physically attacked me on multiple occasions, punching, scratching, and even using objects to harm me. One of the most dangerous incidents occurred while she was pregnant, where her aggression turned physical and escalated to the point where I was very concerned for both her and the baby's safety." Nkateko also accused Khanya of stabbing him. "The act of violence was a stark reminder that her behaviour was spiralling out of control, and it was no longer safe for my son to remain in such an environment.' Khanya has not responded to calls or availed herself to tell her side of the story.
