Sekhukhune United footballer Shaune Mogaila (26) is back on the football field amid his pending court case of culpable homicide, recklessness and negligence and fleeing the scene of the accident.
BACK ON THE FIELD
He allegedly fled the scene after crashing his M2 BMW into a mom and two children, a 13-year-old and a nine-year-old but the youngest, Gomolemo Mavimbela, passed away on the scene. Mogaila was released on R20 000 bail.
Yesterday, his team, Sekhukhune United won a 4-2 match against AmaZulu FC, a game Mogaila joined and in which he was instrumental in a goal scored by Andy Boyeli.
MAKING BAIL
Sekhukhune United coach, Lehlohonolo Seema, shared in a statement that his return to the field was to show his support, despite the pending case. "He had an unfortunate incident that happened, and the team gave him support and time to deal with it,' the coach said. "Now he is back, and we are happy with his first game after a long time.' He said Mogaila's contribution to the win was felt. "We are happy with the contribution that he made, and look; he is a player that we know."
The family of the late child has not voiced their opinion on the player returning to the field. His next court appearance is on 19 May 2025.
