Hundreds of fans waited to see pop star and R&B singer Press Sihlangu but were left disappointed when the Boats singer did not pitch at an event in Newshaft-Nkandla, Virginia, in the Free State two weeks ago. Sliq Records and The Lounge who hosted an All Back, Soul and R&B event said the singer also failed to give them reasons why he did not pitch at the event or refund the money.

PAID IN FULL

According to the proof of payment seen by ZiMoja, the singer was paid the full amount of R25 000 for the event before his arrival. The event organiser known as Uncle Sliq confirmed to ZiMoja that Press did not show up. "It happens that artists get held up somewhere or there are delays. But you respectfully move the time. He was paid in full but did not show up. He did not give an explanation or a refund,' Uncle Sliq said. "As it stands, we just want a refund and move on to serious artists who respect their craft.'

A fan who attended the event and paid R500 for VIP said she is disappointed, to say the least. "We saw him posting on social media and we wanted to see him in real life. My partner and I spent R500 each on VIP and he didn't rock up,' the fan said. Press has also been ignoring calls and has not been available for comment.

DRUNK IN LOVE

After being quiet in the music scene for almost a decade, Press gained popularity again recently when he was rumoured to be dating controversial social media influencer, Dineo Moloisane. The two have been seen out and about in matching outfits and sharing kisses. A close acquittance said Press was out and about the weekend of his booking. "He was posting vacation pictures with Dineo the same weekend he was booked, maybe that had something to do with missing the gig.'
