His fashion sense is elegant with sophisticated street cred. It was a no brainer that he would get spotted by an international brand. DJ Oscar Mbo, real name Oscar Mbongeni Ndlovu, has bagged a massive shoe deal with international US brand, Steve Madden.

He has become the first male ambassador in South Africa, joining the first-ever female South African ambassador, Bonang Matheba. Oscar Mbo will reveal his new collection for men, which includes sneakers and streetwear. His range was officially launched at an opulent private function in the north of Johannesburg this week. Oscar told ZiMoja that his range consists of sneakers. "We decided to start with footwear, sneakers. I wanted to reach the people who listen to my music and love the Oscar Mbo brand," he said. Oscar was fully involved in the design process for his sneakers. "I loved every moment of it. I was involved in the design and the manufacturing and went through each and every step," he added. Oscar said he gets his fashion senses by always researching the latest trends. "I love the Italians classic dress sense. But I also get inspiration from the Japanese, who are leaders in technology. I don't limit myself, but I always stay in the know and research."

In 2022, Bonang became the first-ever Steve Madden ambassador with the Holiday Select Collection to market. As part of the brand's build-up in celebrating 10 years in Africa, the collaboration once again proves Steve Madden's trend-setting edge. The holiday range selected by Bonang included six footwear and two handbag styles that, in the style icon's eyes, epitomised the celebratory mood of a South African summer.
