Nota Baloyi off the hook for now

Itumeleng Bokaba has withdrawn a rape case against Nota Baloyi

Actress and musician Itumeleng Bokaba has dropped rape charges against music executive Nota Baloyi but promises to revisit the matter if a need arises. Bokaba confirmed the news in a statement today.

TOO BUSY FOR COURT

In the statement, Bokaba said that due to her busy schedule and her upcoming project, she won't have time and energy to attend to the ongoing court matter. "I have recently been presented with an amazing career opportunity, one that I never saw coming, but that I know is truly aligned with my purpose. This project requires my full focus, dedication and for me to remain in a positive headspace so that I can give it my best,' she said, adding, "This does not mean that the case has been dismissed or that my experience is invalid. I remain firm in my truth and will revisit the case at a later stage when I am in a better position to do so,' she said in the statement.

NEW CHAPTER

She also thanked her followers for their support. "Right now, I welcome everyone to join me in this new season of my life. I am excited, grateful and ready to step into the work God has placed in front of me. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey; I appreciate you more than words can." Nota was arrested in October last year after he handed himself over to the police. He spent three nights behind bars before he was granted R5 000 bail. At the time, he denied raping the actress and said they had consensual sex and that she tried to blackmail him into promoting her music. He said in one interview that Bokaba initiated sex and not him. "You can't say I forced; therefore, her whole claim is thrown out by just that one simple fact. We had intercourse consensually. She woke up in the morning and said, 'I am coming to your place'. She drove her car from Kempton Park to my place in Fourways. Then she drove from my place back to Kempton Park when she was done,' he said at the time. After Bokaba shared the statement about the withdrawal of the matter, Nota wrote, on X: "Anyways, the rape charge against me has been withdrawn!
